A short trip to The Gallery "Frank Bobbin's institute"

{Written on 10/09/14}
Currently, I've just returned from the art exhibition named "Frank Bobbin's Institute". Whilst at the art exhibition, I ventured across and throughout the gallery, taking in my surroundings. When you enter the old stable buildings, you're immediately greeted by a large robot in which was decorated by items of various forms. By the side of the robot, there was a piece which consisted of deep, spiritualist quotes reading "I'm hearing voices..." etc. On the floor were branches, which had a label of "origin.." Acknowledging the surrounding pieces of this particular piece, gave an eerie feel, considering there was a TV lurking above with a very unusual film being played and it's cinematography being vivid, dark and 'cold'. The actual content of the film was extremely peculiar and horror-like.

When venturing further into the exhibition and slightly around the corner; a piece featuring a living-room-like setting (genuine every-day objects included) and many other slightly 'out of the ordinary' items (such as a rather creepy hand-made doll on the setee.) The atmosphere in the room was mysterious and dingy, adding to the automatic appearance of the art.

Upstairs you was immediately shown a room containing relatively strange items and (presumably) a poem being spoken in a different language. This was part of a large art piece which to us, was very questionable because we didn't have the luxury to see it as a live piece as intended. Although, there was a specific piece being projected onto the wall, which had a slide show [a slight video has been uploaded above] and a picture of the live piece being taken place. As you look around the bare-walled room, you can see a TV and head phones. The TV was playing a little girl with dark skin, playing with pure white sheets and the music was a contradiction and didn't fit what's-so-ever with the visual image. You could interpret this specific piece in many ways.

Further up the stairs was a room filled with several different pieces. A live piece of art was a girl putting on make-up and following a extremely poor tutorial. The contradiction was blatant as the man putting on the make-up in the tutorial's make-up was intentionally horrific but the female putting on the make-up was pristine and incredible. Around the room was multiple different pieces such as; a record player playing old vinyl's, a frog collection which went off and sensed when you walked by and another TV playing Betty Page.

Over-all; the experience was incredibly interesting, enjoyable and a huge inspiration to my own future art work.
