My completed brief

To begin with, I have decided on a main point of focus: mindfulness, curiosity and exposure to illogical situations thus instigate a more open mind. This isn't a narrowed down, overly specific task which will therefore allow me to research entirely into numerous sections before I begin my actual final development, so I can ensure I'm finding the strongest focus points. I'm contemplating on developing a sketch book on un-bleached paper; this therefore symbolising the purity/naïvety of the young Alice. I intend on using paint and ink to complete numerous illustrations of my focus point also, along side possibly incorporating painted-on-Polaroids. The book will be full of different parts of Alice in Wonderland; an illustration for each chapter and possibly some of the characters. I will be woking towards completing a series of illustrations, which will all somewhat make up a book of some sort, telling he story of Alice In Wonderland.

After researching into artists, I have decided on a few that will influence my work. These artists range from Salvador Dali's "Alice in wonderland", phlegm, kid acne, the illustration held at espionage gallery ("follow the rabbit") in Australia, Gail Potocki, Hannah Snowdon and Mark Ryden. However, I do not intent on using all of these as direct sources for inspiration, but their styles will shine through in certain aspects in my work. As recorded on my blog; all of these artists are extremely different to one another, in which i will be incorporating small sections of their work (i.e Mark Ryden's style of character and Dali's use of surrealism in watercolour and Hannah Snowdon's use of ink and pointillism.) Whilst I'm out around different places, I will be looking for inspiration in the every day world also, as details on trees, leaves, the structure of nature; will all inspire my illustrations. Along side that, there is kid acnes work and phlegms all around Sheffield, which I will take photos of and make sure I can use them as visual references. (I will also be looking around visits with college for illustration inspirations and may consider visiting the b&b gallery in Sheffield which is ran by Kid Acne.)

As I am experimenting and playing about with a range of styles on paper, I intend on using a wide variety of watercolour, acrylic, pencils and pens/inks. I'm not limiting myself and I am contemplating possibly drawing a few and then using illustrator on the Apple Macs to alter and colour some of my illustrations up. I am planning on using a brown papered binder for illustrations and to keep them all together. However, when I do intend on using a different shade of paper etc; I am planning on sticking those in as a slight form of collage. As this project is going to be carried out for 5 months, until June. This is going to give me a vast amount of time to complete all my illustrations to my full potential both inside college and whilst at home. I do intend on beginning with pen and pointillism to begin with followed by possibly incorporating Polaroids and paintings. The book I'm creating is going to be focused on specific points of the book and I do NOT plan on illustrating the entire book entirely.

I will analyse entirely by keeping track of everything as it progresses. In order to keep all my progression on track, I intend on evaluating each time I complete a piece, on my blog in which will allow me to identify whether I'm working to my full potential. Along side keeping my blog up to date, I will make sure I am referring back to both my visual references and my brief. Once I have completed a series of illustrations and my work is coming to an end, I intend on evaluating and explaining each section, therefore making my work clear.
