I have discovered that, by using my iPad to draw is a very quick and convenient way of working. I really enjoy working with the different possibilities on my iPad including the zoom tool so I can get very close in for the tiny detailed work.
This worked out well because it turned to be very individual. I experimented with different opacities and tried the style I see a lot in the tattooist industry when they draw (the fading out grey to black for shading.) Although it is inaccurate, I actually like it. I kind of wanted it in accurate, because I like to think of it as two different cats fused together like conjoined twins. I had my own thought of "Cheshire Cat" in mind when I was creating it, which I think fits relatively well with the concept of Alice in Wonderland. I first only started with the collars too, then proceeded to add the overlayer of almost transparent flowers. I followed it up with the head, then the eyes, then the background symbolism (sacred geometry.) I then outlined the ears, th intricate roses and head design and hands. After, I decided what was I would show shape and form! But after a lot of thought, I just did certain sections. I then did the boarder and finally did the black background. I could've used the reflect tool on all of it, but decided only to do it on the boarder because I felt as though it's less of my own work when using the reflect tool. However, I did actually just was it to be two different cats because I though it would look more interesting. I think it's finished, but I may either add or change it when bored!
With this one, I first sketched out an idea in my sketch book. I then decided that, by drawing a heart sprouting flowers, it would give it a very interesting feel. However I decided to re-use the fading to grey/black technique I did before in order to make it not look entirely flat. I also figured how to incorporate my dot-work pointillism style into the art on my iPad, which worked compersitionally quite well.
