One Day Assignment

Dave decided to spring a one-day-assignment on us, which actually appeared to be fun when first being told. But when it came too it, it was beyond stressful! Working as a team is difficult when everybody has different preferences and not everybody really gets along. We ended up doing 'Cards Against Humanity' as a main theme, which is all well and good until you realise the cards are blank and it's quite a bland idea. But, I eventually cracked and just got on with it!

Despite the actual design of  'CAH' being boring, I had an idea! So, I tried a few bright idea's out, played around until I figured out what I wanted. I decided to combine photography and illustration since it can be quick and effective.

I came amongst MANY hurdles, mainly that my computer kept playing up (yes, kept playing up....not that I still don't know how to work the programs quickly...na-ah........) and it didn't end up coming out as well as I initially planned! But it's still pretty cute.

I thought how to portray happiness, worry, scared and a mind fresh with ideas. That being said, I used a Lotus Flower because in the Buddhist religion they're considered somewhat sacred for happiness and portraying clarity, an illustration of a person peaking between the flowers and then two diagonal lines filled between with the sky to represent a fresh start and a head full of possibilities (cheesily put; 'sky is the limit').

I think the over-all composition worked well and that it definitely added excitement to the rather bland page. If I had the chance to do it again without the CAH theme, I would have incorporated a background of trees and still combined photography and illustration because I think it's a very visually appealing way to work.
