Due to sickness, I missed the day that we had to mock up a 5 cell story on the computer, so I spent the day creating one by hand. I like making things and drawing things by hand, without any planning too. I think it worked really well and definitely tells the story without being overly in depth.

This is the front cover. I decided to combine water colour and technical drawing pens to draw it and experimented with it so it'd be very eye catching as the front cover is the reason people pick the book up. I did it as a zine, very small and pocket sized. I decided to put the space ship as the front scene, projecting it's rays to gather up the heart and the stoner's home (a.k.a the Jelly Fish) as a brief insight as to what's going to happen throughout the story. |

As the first page, I decided to have a very interesting illustration and a beginning to the story which will get the reader intrigued. The head Stoner is telling the fellow Stoner to get ready because they are heading to Human Land to gather organs for the up coming week. The composition works well, but it isn't overly neat. I somewhat wanted it to look unneat because I think it adds character to the comic. |
 |
The top scene is the scene where it flashes back to B.C. It explains thoroughly about how the Stone's are fed up of being thrown at people so they plan to evacuate to a jelly fish. Due to this only being a 5 cell mock up, I decided to leave that scene out but just explain in the story about it instead. The below scene is of the Stoners chilling out and an explanation futher of the story is in the top writing box. |
 |
The end of the world, year 3000: This is lead by an ice age. Jesus is laughing at them because he just wants to get revenge on the entire rein of Stoner's. The explanation is in the narrative box and I intend to use this scene in the final one but drawn up on illustrator for a more professional look. |

The back of the hand illustrated 5 cell mock-up is very simple. I used, again, water colour and pen and the back reads what I will hopefully be putting on the back of the actual final one.
It would have and will turn out a lot better when edited on the computer. I intend on combining illustration and photography like Maskimov's work and more bold, black and white ones like Frank Miller. The narration may be slightly toned down too, but if I was to do a more extended version I would contemplate actually creating the story with a better and more in depth narrative. |
