I have decided to combine both my own photography and illustration into my comic. I think that by using this would set a more 'realistic' theme and feel to my comic which would add to the story line. Due to me using a relatively controversial subject of adulatory, religion, murder etc, I think that by adding the photography may add to the whole story line.
I took this particular image from outside of college quite early in the morning. I snapped it on the college camera's and instantly thought it would be more than ideal for the comic. I think that it's quite an extravagant picture of the sky; capturing it's strange cloud patterns and the plane jet line directly across it. By using an image of the actual sky, I am adding a more realistic effect to my story but keeping it with a 'strange' effect due to the unreal looking sky (because it looks pretty and strangely set...almost surreal.)
After deciding that this particular image would be more than suited for my frame, I added in the illustration of waves and the Stones transportation, spaceships. I think it turned out really well, despite it not being black and white. This instigated a moment of clarity which I have decided to use this in my final comic. I have decided to use this because I really think the combination works incredibly well and I think using this as the only whole coloured scene, could be really effective. I may use this as a double page spread and play on words on each of the wave ruffles. I think that if this was in the centre of the story, this would definitely be interesting.
This is my spaceship coloured up on Photoshop. It works well and I tried to capture the glass-looking shadow by using different shades of blues. I think the calming colour is ironic because of the violence they convey throughout despite them fleeing from their original place due to unhappiness and in an act of safety. I decided to do the actual glass part transparent, because that instantly add's to the over-all composition and making it look slightly more realistic and exciting. If I decide I need more use of the space ship, I will be incorporating this specific one because of how well it turned out.
