This specific Polaroid was created by taking photos in the hospital grounds then altered in Photoshop. I decided to take photos at this specific section of the hospital because it looks really run down and adds to the effect of the two ghost-like-people being there. Although the colouring could have worked better by using a better quality camera and possibly taking more time to alter the tones. I added a sepia tone, altered the saturation, turned shadow down a bit then placed the format into a Polaroid. I then later added noise and added "burn" marks to the image to give the illusion of an old, dirty Polaroid. I really like this design and I do like that, by copy and pasting the people you've taken an image of, then altering the opacity on a new layer and then "smudging" makes the Polaroid look like a more convincing hoax. I later decided to then look a move generic place, somewhere people associate "ghosts" to roam...
GRAVE YARD! I chose the grave yard setting for this specific Polaroid because it tends to be a common place for people to associate the ghosts of the people buried, roam. I changed the saturation down to give it a grain, old effect, added noise to make it grainy and look very old and then changed the colours to higher saturations so it would look bright in some sections and highly contrast. I used the same image as the previous image because I figured they would look great in this setting, which they're almost unidentifiable and that makes the over all Polaroid effect look more convincing. I later added it to a Polaroid frame again and made more burn marks for a more authentic look.
This is possibly my favourite Polaroid amongst them. I really like that I have still used the same image of the two people (my friends) but in stead, copied them separately. I made sure that one was laid out on the ground to make it look like they'd had an accident and then another even fainter above that one so it looked like a person hovering or even their soul. I figured this would leave people questioning and depicting what it was and triggering their imagination, if I placed them like the way I have, which makes it slightly more convincing. However, this one isn't as subtle as the second one, which is its weakness but it's also it's strength.
I could have further completed more hoax project designs because I enjoyed this project. I wish I have had the opportunity to complete more, preferably in abandoned places in Sheffield or in more grave yards. I could have potentially went full out, completely blown people's minds and faked a death or suicide and had a vivid person floating from the body reperesenting the soul leaving the body after death. There were many opportunities that i have missed to do in this project and if I was to do it again I would definitely try out more designs.
